Backyard Ponds

Backyard ponds are typically ponds in your yard for birds, fish, frogs, and other small wildlife. Of course they are also there for your enjoyment. Most backyard ponds are small in size and are generally located in easy view from your patio or a deck. Having one will provide a relaxing and pleasing view of the nature for the whole family.

Some backyard ponds have a water feature like a fountain. A water feature like a fountain is not as complex as you imagine in setting up. In fact, it is relatively easy if everything is pre-manufactured and you just have to install it.

When installing a pond, it should plan to have it blend in with its natural surroundings. Having an unnatural looking pond will only detract from the backyard scenery. It should also be important to note that the surrounding soil is slightly elevated so excess water from rain or other sources do not flow into the pond, but away from it.

Be sure to also provide landscaping around the pond that provides habitat for the pond life. An example would be jagged rock in the pond that provides shading for fish or frogs.

Care should be taken to ensure safety for the small children in the family and try to locate the pond where it is not likely to attract attention of unattended children. A fence may be necessary for that safety.
