Overview
All ornamental ponds, fountains, and aquariums experience
occasional algae blooms. Green (Chlorophyta) and
blue-green (Cyanophyta) algae can appear as a fine
coating on rocks and liners, or as tufts of “beard algae."
Fountains and waterfalls can become clogged with mats of
stringy “hair algae."
Single-celled algae cause unsightly "green water"
